Why FocusFire?

The idea behind FocusFire is simple: concentrate your efforts where they'll make the greatest difference.

The term focus fire comes from a military principle: instead of spreading your firepower across multiple targets, concentrate it on the one that matters most.

The same principle applies to growing a business.

What makes FocusFire work

A magnifying glass focuses a beam of sunlight onto one small point on a sheet of paper, where it begins to burn, with a sunset over hills behind it

Think about sunlight.

The sun pours tremendous energy onto the Earth every day. But spread out over a large area, that energy produces little immediate change.

Put a magnifying glass in its path, focus that energy onto one small spot, and you can ignite a fire.

The amount of energy hasn't changed. What changed is where it's concentrated.

That's the power of focus.

Most business owners work incredibly hard. They have talented people, valuable resources, and plenty of opportunities.

But their attention and efforts are scattered across too many competing priorities.

Not every business problem deserves equal attention. One constraint will have more impact on growth than anything else you're working on.

Find the constraint. Focus your efforts on eliminating it.

Then identify the next one.

That's how you build momentum and accelerate growth.

Grow faster by working on less.

A practical approach to improvement

Once we know where to focus, the next step is to make the work as simple and effective as possible.

Eliminate first. Simplify. Then delegate and automate what's left.

  1. Step 1 Eliminate Stop unnecessary work
  2. Step 2 Simplify Remove needless complexity
  3. Step 3 Delegate Put work in the right hands
  4. Step 4 Automate Let technology handle repetition

Don't automate work that shouldn't be done in the first place. Don't complicate something that could be simplified. And don't keep doing work yourself when someone or something else could do it just as well.

The goal isn't more technology or more busywork.

It's better results with less wasted effort.

Solve the one thing that changes everything.

Meet Mike Begala

Founder, FocusFire Growth Partners

For more than a dozen years, I've helped organizations build systems that work and helped people perform at their best.

I have a degree in physics and a Master of Science in Management, a degree similar to an MBA but with a stronger focus on technology.

My consulting work has taken me across five continents, including engagements with FedEx, Medtronic, and the US Army. Much of my work has involved helping organizations develop systems and processes that operate reliably without depending on any one person.

I've also spent years helping business owners, executives, and teams overcome the mental and emotional roadblocks that hold them back.

As a mindset trainer and specialist in rapid personal transformation, I've helped thousands of people, from entrepreneurs and CEOs to Navy SEALs and Hollywood actors, make meaningful changes in how they think, feel, and perform.

These two areas have more in common than you might expect.

A business can have excellent systems but still struggle because of how its people operate. And a highly capable owner can still be held back by inefficient systems.

I help you maximize both sides of the business: the systems and the people running them.

Sometimes the biggest obstacle is a process that doesn't work well. Sometimes it's a decision that keeps getting put off, a responsibility that never gets handed over, or a pattern of thinking that's holding the owner back.

I help you find what matters most and address it. Together, we build a business that performs better while demanding less of your time and attention.

I'm based in Newport Beach, California, and work with business owners locally and around the world.

A few things you might not expect about me: I've lived in Costa Rica, partied in the White House, and shared office space with Chuck Norris.

Chuck didn't do push-ups. He bench-pressed the world.
